In 1946 a group of local businessmen founded Citizens Bank & Trust Co. to provide financial alternatives to the residents and businesses of St. Tammany Parish. Its founders named their bank after the people they intended it to serve. CBT opened its doors with 8 employees and currently has 41 employees. The employees today still use the same standards that were set back in 1946, which is to have a friendly and personal connection with its customers.
