The Bank of England provides financial market infrastructure oversight, issues bank notes, provides services as the settlement agent for financial institutions, regulates and supervises financial services firms, ensures that banks and other firms that offer financial services operate in good order, implements monetary policy, maintains financial stability, and keep inflation low and stable, and other services.
