Securitization

A particular variety of funds prioritizes absolute performance above relative performance. It is allowed to short stocks (sell the stock before you own it) and can use financial leverage. Turning something into a security, for example, combining the debt from several mortgages to create a financial product that can be traded. Mortgage payments made by homeowners are a source of revenue for banks that own assets containing mortgage debt.
