Price to Earnings Ratio

A common method for contrasting stocks trading at various price points. Share stock price divided by the yearly earnings per share results in the P/E ratio. A stock, for instance, is said to be trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 10 if it fetches $50 per share and generates $5 per share.
