Back-end Processor

A data company, usually a third party, that is hired by a merchant (or the company that handles payment transactions on the behalf of a seller) to give handling and communication services. In contrast to a front-end processor, a back-end processor takes settlement information provided by the front-end processor and sends the payment from the bank that handed down the card to the merchant for completing the transaction.
