National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD)

The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) was a self-regulatory organization in the United States that oversaw the activities of brokerage firms and stock exchanges. It was responsible for setting rules and regulations for the securities industry and ensuring fair and transparent practices. In 2007, the NASD merged with the regulatory functions of the New York Stock Exchange to form the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
